I’m writing to protest about the loss of deckchairs on Brighton promenade, adjacent to the Palace Pier. It’s now many years since this amenity was available. Remember old pictures with rows of fat old ladies dozing in the sun? Adam Trimingham, in this very paper, wrote an article asking “Haven’t they got anything better to do?” Well, now I’m a fat old lady and walk on the prom daily with my dog and see many disabled, old and portly people with nowhere to sit. I’m sure they would happily pay £1 to park themselves for an hour or two while the family are on the beach or shopping.
It’s discrimination in my view.
Does Brighton only welcome the young and fit? This could be easily rectified if someone cared enough to give it a go.
