A driver was fighting for his life in hospital this morning after a car crashed into a field near Horsham.
The man, who lives nearby, was freed from his car by firefighters after the crash in Worthing Road, Horsham, at about 11.20pm.
Police said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Another man in the car also needed hospital treatment.
The car is believed to have left the road at speed, crashed through a hedge and ended up on its roof in a field.
No further information has been released by police but firefighters said the car may have left the road after swerving to avoid another vehicle.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Sussex Police's road policing unit at Haywards Heath quoting Operation Chilmark.
