UPDATE: The A27 has reopened after a 25 tonne scrap metal lorry overturned.
The A27 Station Road at Arundel was closed for eight hours, causing delays to drivers.
The lorry, which was carrying a load of cars for scrap, overturned while taking a bend on the eastbound carriageway at the Crossbush junction with the A284 east of Arundel, just before 6.15am.
The male driver, who is from Hampshire and is in his fifties, was cut from the lorry by firefighters and was taken to Worthing Hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
The A27 and A284 were closed in both directions and diversions were put in place. Major traffic congestion was caused.
