She usually spends her days working for an investment company, bringing up her two children, planning her wedding and fretting about the size her body.

But today a Portslade mother will be appearing on hundreds of coffee tables around the country.

Despite never modelling before Sarah Benham, 34, has been chosen to be the cover girl of Essentials Magazine which sells more than 20,000 copies every month.

The lifestyle glossy is the first of its kind to ban models, celebrities and any form of air brushing from its front page.

Ms Benham, who lives with her partner and two children Emily, seven, and Jack, five, in Mile Oak, Brighton, said: “I spotted the email from Essentials magazine asking for people to write a bit about themselves as part of a competition.

“I never really do things like this but I thought I would give it a go. I wrote about how hectic my life was looking after two children as well as working in an investment company four days a week, how I missed my sister who has just moved to Australia, how I am getting married in October and how I do have some body issues.

“I am a size 14/16 dress and it’s not that I have an ideal size in mind I would just like to look in the mirror and like how I look in what I’m wearing.

“I guess having kids meant I did put on weight and I haven’t always been happy about it since.”
