Firefighters rescued a man from a burning ground-floor flat in Peacehaven by dragging him through a window.
A passer-by raised the alarm shortly after 4am this morning when smoke was seen coming from a flat in South Coast Road.
Firefighters wearing specialist breathing equipment had to break into the property and used foam to extinguish the blaze, which was started by a faulty fuse box. The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and did not suffer any serious injuries.
