This charity musical gala was organised to raise funds to support three local talented youngsters, Alex Evans, Toby Joe Corner and Louie Kershaw, as they move on to the next stage of their theatrical training.

The evening was a showcase, not just of their skills, but also those of the many young performers that abound in this area, supported by accomplished West End performers.

Highlights included City Youth Theatre’s excerpts from Billy Elliott, Arabesque School Of Performing Arts’ wistful Who Will Buy from Oliver! and the ever-popular Les Miz provided the opportunity for the full company to pull all the stops out with One More Day.

Craig Whiteley was impressive with the dramatic Bui Doi, backed by a strong chorus that filled the lofty church. Its organ was heard to magnificent effect in The Phantom Of The Opera, which brought together Whiteley and the delightful Lydia Marcazzo.

Brighton Theatre Youth Group’s Alex Evans and Ben Simpson brought the house down when they reprised their Hairspray roles with Timeless To Me.

Bring On Tomorrow was an apt number for the finale of an over-packed and long show – by the time it had finished it was almost tomorrow.
