What a shame that Melissa Samuels was so upset by the unkind note sent to her by the wedding caterer (The Argus, August 28.) When I got married, we were strapped for cash, so we held our reception in my mother’s back garden.
We found a lovely lady to do our catering who was recommended to me by a friend – and she was happy to be paid in instalments. I remember how she made little heart-shaped sandwiches for our guests.
In fact, everybody who was involved in our wedding, from my dress designer to the wedding cake maker, were all found by my asking around.
Many people work from home and don’t advertise so there really is nothing like “word of mouth” – in one morning alone I had three ladies lined up willing to do my cake!
I wish Melissa all the best with her wedding plans.
