While the Conservatives and LibDems talk about a Big Society in which voluntary groups and charities take over running public services, their Government’s attacks on these same organisations continue.

Groups are already under pressure from Government cuts affecting grants from local councils. Now a consultation by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport is proposing a 10% cut in the Big Lottery Fund which is so important to many local voluntary organisations. This could happen as early as this September.
