More than 250 people took part in the glorious sunshine of Sunday's Walk4Life.

The little changes make the big differences is the philosophy of the organisers.

Change4Life is an organisation set up in 2009 by the NHS in order to get the country up, active and thinking about its health.

Juliette Harmer of the Department of Health and one of the organisers of the walk says she “wants to promote walking as a good form of exercise as its free and everyone can do it.”

This was proved as more than 250 people of all ages took part in the walk from Hove Lawns to Madeira Drive, a pleasant two mile trip along the seafront.

She added: “Walking is safer [than more strenuous exercise] if you have health problems.”

The Brighton and Hove walk was set up in conjunction with Healthwalks, a company set up to give people exciting and fun routes to walk all over the city.

David and Ann Burgess took part in the walk and had been using Healthwalks frequently from the Preston Park area. David said: “We moved to Brighton five years ago and as we didn’t know anyone it was recommended to us that we joined the local [Preston Park] walking club and that’s how we found out about today”. He said they use walking as a social and fun way to stay active.

The next step for Change4Life is to gain financial support from local and national businesses in order to arrange even more great events. The next event is Food4Life an event to help people eat better and healthier more information available at www.change4life.com.
