An overdose warning has been issued by police about a batch of poor quality heroin being sold on the streets.
Detectives have said the drug has led to an increase in overdoses in Sussex, especially around the Hastings area.
Detective Inspector Colin Dowle said: "The heroin appears to have been mixed with other drugs that cause sleepiness and memory loss. It is more red in colour and gels up which makes it difficult to inject or smoke. Those who have overdosed have not responded to naloxone, which reverses the effect of an opiate overdose.
"I would urge anyone who insists on taking illegal drugs to consider their own personal safety and to seek confidential advice from health professionals."
