Thousands of people turned out for last night's Burning the Clocks in Brighton.
After last year's event was cancelled due to dangerously icy roads, there had been fears this year's would also fall victim to the severe winter weather.
But last night, the city centre's streets were ice-free, and the parade progressed triumphantly from North Street to Madeira Drive.

There, dozens of paper and willow lanterns built at a series of winter workshops and invested with wishes for 2011 were put to fire to greet the lengthening days.
A fireworks display finished the night with a bang.
Burning the Clocks is organised by SameSky, which organises community events throughout the city.
