I watched the Royal Variety Show on TV the other day, and was really pleased to see HRH Prince Charles and his lady, Camilla, looking in good health and obviously enjoying the performances.

After going through what must have been an extremely traumatic and frightening episode at the hands of a crowd of idiotic yobs when they were caught up in the stupid riots on the way to the theatre, they both showed true British resilience.

This was something that definitely frightened the Duchess, and was obviously a scare for Prince Charles, as he had her by his side and his concern was obvious.

They show us all the true way to be, while the crowd that attacked their car showed us just what a sad society we now have in England.

As an ex-serviceman, I feel ashamed to be English these days. I and others fought – and many died – for this?

With close protection officers at the scene, I think that the idiots who attacked His Highness should consider themselves very lucky that firearms were not drawn and used. Perhaps they should have been, considering the treasonable acts that took place. It would have taught some a serious lesson.
