The daughter of a much-loved radio DJ who died suddenly this week has led tributes to “the best dad in the world”.

Chris Copsey, who had been presenting shows in Sussex since 1983, is believed to have collapsed in a Haywards Heath Sainsbury’s store on Tuesday afternoon.

The married father-of-two, who lived in Scaynes Hill, near Haywards Heath and was in his late-forties, had been presenting his breakfast show, which could be heard on Splash FM, Sovereign FM, Arrow FM and Bright 106.4, just hours before.

His daughter Jessica wrote in an online tribute: “I just want to let you all know that my dad was the best dad in the whole wide world and that he will be missed by many people.”

During his career Mr Copsey, known as Coppo, had also worked for Portslade-based Southern FM, now Heart.

Among his many appearances across Sussex, Chris used to host events at Fontwell Racecourse. Former Fontwell commercial manager Mark Powell, 31, said: "This is a tragedy, he was such a nice guy. He was a radio legend."
