An inquest into the death of a man whose burnt body was found at a golf course was adjourned yesterday pending a murder trial.

In a brief hearing, West Sussex Coroner Penelope Schofield opened and adjourned the inquest of Stefan Welch at Worthing Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Welch, 37, of Oriental Place, Brighton, was struck on the head before his body was set alight on Dyke golf course in September last year.

The inquest was told a post-mortem had found Mr Welch had died from head injuries and the toxic effects of heroin.

Sean Iran, 21, of St Richard’s Road, Fishergate, has been charged with murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Iran’s older brother Navid, 23, and father Babak, 44, who live at the same address, have both been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The men are expected to stand trial later this year.
