Rail bosses have launched an investigation after a man became trapped within the automatic doors of a train.
Stuart Crawley said he was terrified he would be dragged along the railway line when he became jammed in the doors of a Gatwick Express train stopped at Burgess Hill station.
The passenger was only able to free himself when two other commuters forced opened the doors of the 06.30 Victoria to Brighton service.
Southern Railway said there was no fault with the door and the train continued on its route to Brighton.
The rail company conceded that there had been problems with the Gatwick Express train doors which had led to train delays and cancellations since the trains were introduced two years ago.
