A driver has been arrested on suspicion of killing another man in a car crash.

The 62-year-old victim, a man from Bexhill, died this morning following a collision between two cars.

A 22-year-old St Leonards man, arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, is currently in custody.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “A driver has died and another has been arrested after a collision between two cars in Bexhill.

“Emergency services were called to the scene in Cooden Drive, at the junction with Westcourt Drive, at 10.05am on Tuesday following the collision between a Honda Civic and a Vauxhall Astra.

“The driver of the Honda, a 62-year-old local man, was declared dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

“The driver of the Astra, a 22-year-old man from St Leonards-on-Sea, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody at Hastings.

“Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen either of the vehicles in the area in the time leading up to, to call 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Harsfold.”
