I would like to reassure residents (Letters, February 10) that glass jars are accepted by Brighton and Hove City Council for recycling and this has not changed.
There is no limit on our recycling capacity. It is not the case that we can no longer store and process the amount of recycling currently being produced by residents.
Therefore we urge all residents to recycle as much as possible. There are big benefits in doing so, not only for the environment but also in savings to the council taxpayer as it is much cheaper to recycle than to send waste to landfill.
The materials we collect in Brighton and Hove are plastic bottles, cardboard, paper and cans. We also collect glass bottles and jars which should be put out separately to avoid breaking and getting mixed up with other recycling.
Many more materials can be recycled at our household waste sites. For comprehensive information, including a video on how to use your black box recycling service, go to www. brighton-hove.gov.uk/recycling
