A man has been jailed for 15 years for raping two women.

Patrick Mark Geary, 40, of Warwick Mount, Montague Street, Brighton, was sentenced yesterday after being found guilty at a previous hearing of three rapes in Kemp Town, Brighton, in 2007 and 2009.

Geary was given an indeterminate sentence at Inner London Crown Court.

He will serve a minimum of six year and will also be placed on the sexual offenders register for life.

DC Tim Craig of Brighton CID said: "I am grateful to everyone who assisted in this investigation and would like to pay tribute to the two victims, who have both shown great courage, bravery and strength of character in coming forward and giving evidence.

“Justice has been done and I hope that the knowledge that Geary has received a substantial sentence and will no longer be a danger to the public will offer some comfort to the victims and they will be able to move on with their lives.”

Geary tried to rape his first victim, a 21-year-old woman, after she passed out in his flat in February 2007 after partying at a Kemp Town nightclub.

His second victim, a 23-year-old woman, was raped twice at his flat after a family barbecue in June 2009.

He was found guilty at a trial in May last year at Hove Crown Court.

As the jury announced its verdict Geary screamed there was a conspiracy against him and was derogatory and hostile to all prosecution witnesses.
