A new Marks & Spencer will create 80 jobs.
The Simply Food store at Carden Avenue retail park, Hollingbury, Brighton, is due to open in late spring – possibly as early as May.
The 12,700 sq ft shop, on the site of the vacant MFI store, will offer a range of ready meals, fresh produce, sandwiches, salads and a café.
The new M&S store will be the fourth in Brighton and Hove and will rival its out-of-town shop at Holmbush in Shoreham.
The company already has a store in Western Road and a Simply Food store at Brighton railway station.
The M&S in London Road, Brighton, closed several years ago.
There will be 193 free car parking spaces.
Adrian Carr, M&S regional manager, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new Simply Food store in Brighton, boosting our presence further in the town and providing the very best of Marks & Spencer food in a convenient location.
“The store will bring a fresh, new shopping environment to the area and we are counting down the months.”
