Crawley fans have been going the extra mile to see their team in Manchester this weekend.

But Super Red Steve Hitchcock is travelling the extra 11,500 miles to see the biggest game in the club’s history.

Steve, 41, will be flying into Heathrow today from Auckland in New Zealand, his home for the last eight years, just in time for tomorrow’s game.

In total it will be an incredible trip for 90 minutes of football for Crawley-born Steve.

He said: “I don't think I ever thought I'd see the day that we'd play at Old Trafford, but this season just gets better and better.

“The next thing you know, we'll be playing them in the league.

“This is basically our cup final, possibly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“So I told myself, if I could get a ticket to the game I'd get a flight over.

“And then my mate Wardy told me he'd got me a ticket, and the rest fell into place.”

* FA Cup fever has already hit Sussex and The Argus is the only place for all the news and build-up.

Our sports writers will have regular updates leading to Albion’s crucial trip to Stoke City and Crawley Town’s historic match against Manchester United at Old Trafford tomorrow.

In tomorrow’s Argus we will publish a 20-page preview of both games, featuring interviews and features.

On the big day our team of reporters will ensure we are first with the news by updating our website from first thing and throughout Saturday with views from travelling fans, pictures, videos and tweets.

Our Press Gang will be at both Broadfield and Withdean stadiums before the coaches depart selling Argus goody bags, which will contain a copy of the newspaper, a drink, snack, TV magazine plus a souvenir poster.

We will also have all the reaction after the games with a picture gallery being uploaded on Saturday evening.

Updates will continue on Sunday.

Then in Monday’s paper we will feature a bumper 20-page fans’ souvenir special with news, pictures and reaction from both games, as well as our normal comprehensive sports coverage.

We are asking our readers to get involved by telling us about any FA Cup related news.
