An inquest into the death of a plumber who jumped into the sea to save his dogs will take place next month.

Kevin Reynolds, 52, who was known as Wink, died on Saturday January 8, after walking into rough seas near to the Palace Pier, Brighton, just after midday, when he spotted his two Jack Russells were in trouble.

The father-of-five, of Queen's Park Road, Brighton, was followed into the water by Grace, his 13-year-old daughter, when she realised he was in trouble.

Grace was rescued by passers-by but they could not reach Mr Reynolds, who was pulled from the sea by the Brighton RNLI inshore lifeboat after being washed through the pier. He died three hours later at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

Mr Reynolds' inquest will take place at Brighton Magistrates' Court on March 31, at 2pm.
