It is interesting what people can make by knitting squares, such as what Monica Crowe has done (The Argus, February 3) and the science staff at Hove Park School who made crochet planets (February 9).

It made me think about all the wool shops we used to have in the Brighton and Hove area. There are not many left now. Cocoon in George Street in Hove is a good one.

I have been knitting for 50 years and some of my friends get together one afternoon a week and sit and have a cup of tea and knit. It is a way of meeting new people.
