Sleigh Bells create the kind of primal, speaker-abusing noise that’s destined to get parents around the world reaching for the volume control and demanding to know what that “terrible racket is?”.

The genius of this Brooklyn duo is the fact that on their debut album Treats, they’ve managed to strap that noise to some of the catchiest pop hooks this side of The Disney Club.

It was therefore difficult to even get into Digital on Tuesday night, but to use the parlance of the day, Sleigh Bells and their wall of Marshall amps “totally killed it”. That’s a good thing.

Whilst Derek E Miller manhandled his guitar through 45 or so minutes of awesome riffage, singer Alexis Krauss, hidden behind giant, silvery false lashes, sang, screamed and rapped along.

Gossip Girl jacking single Rill, Rill got the biggest cheer of the night of course, but it was heavier tracks such as Infinity Guitars and A/B Machines with its brilliant refrain of “Got my A machines on the table/ B machines in the drawer”, that really showcased the band’s unique sound and got the audience moving.

Deafening but danceable, caustic yet catchy, this effortlessly cool duo are definitely one of the most innovative and exciting bands around.
