A giant bear has been causing passers-by to paws for thought.

The 7ft grizzly is on the way to becoming a new tourist attraction in Brighton and Hove with scores of people stopping to take a look.

The bear was bought by the owners of Dockerill's ironmongers in Church Street, Brighton, from a nearby Martlets Hospice charity shop.

Since then, people out buying their bear necessities have been flocking to see him up close and have been taking photos.

The model was donated to the hospice from a former John Lewis worker who was given it as a retirement present.

Dockerill's manager Neville Williams said store owner Malcolm Dockerill spotted the bear at the charity shop and liked it so much he decided to get it for his store.

Mr Williams said people were welcome to come in and take a picture of themselves with the bear in return for a donation to the Hove-based hospice.

Staff are still trying to come up with a name for the bear and are inviting people to come up with suggestions.
