A police sergeant was left with “catastrophic” injuries after a trailer came lose and ploughed into her convertible.
Sergeant Wendy Dowman, who has remained unconscious since the crash, cannot breathe unaided and has to be fed through a tube.
The 39-year-old, who has served for Sussex Police for more than ten years and has previously been awarded for bravery, is still gravely ill in a London hospital.
Yesterday Jonathan Hobden admitted to being responsible for the accident.
Lewes Crown Court was told how the crash happened on the A267 just north of Wellshurst Golf and Country Club at Hellingly, north of Hailsham in September last year.
