A model and performer is set to face huge media scrums as part of a new girl band.

Former Brighton and Hove High School For Girls pupil Anara Atanes, 23, is one quarter of new girl group Fanfair, who have a unique sponsorship deal with London Irish RFC.

Miss Atanes studied performing arts at Varndean College and was signed up to a top model agency in London when she was 15.

Her new group’s first gig was in front of 5,000 rugby fans and they perform at every home game for the club.

She said: “It was pretty daunting performing at first because the crowd hadn’t come to see us and there were about 1,000 fans just staring at us.

“But they took to us well and they really like us.

“I really hope we will be playing in Brighton soon, I’m always coming back here to see my family.”

Fanfair hope to start releasing material later in the year.
