I ATTENDED the City In Bloom working group meeting last week and left feeling rather disappointed.
I appreciate cuts are a fact of life, but do we really need to take the axe to parts of the City In Bloom competition?
This year there will be no hanging baskets supplied by Brighton and Hove Council for the area east of Old Steine.
Numerous categories have been cut from the competition, such as Best Front Garden, Best Balcony and Best Hanging Basket.
I know some will say there are more important matters, and I agree to some extent, but these smaller issues do matter to local residents.
It’s not a huge cost and cutting it seems rather sad.
