Two motorcyclists were airlifted to hospital following an accident with a car.

The incident happened on the A272 just west of Rogate near Midhurst at midday on Sunday when a bike collided with a Toyota Corolla saloon as they both headed eastbound. A second bike following behind overturned and caught fire.

The rider of the first bike, a 38-year old man from Berkshire, was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital with serious but not life threatening leg and shoulder injuries.

The 40-year old rider of the second bike, from Surrey, was airlifted to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Hampshire with shoulder and chest injuries.

The 81-year old man from Verwood in Dorset who was driving the car was unhurt.
