A man was airlifted to hospital after his powered paraglider crashed.

The 36-year-old of Storrington crashed his paraglider off Chantry Lane, Storrington, at 12.30pm on Saturday.

He was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by the police helicopter.

A Sussex Police statement said: “Nobody else was involved in the incident and there was no damage to anything other than the paraglider.

“He was admitted to the hospital suffering from back injuries which are understood not to be life-threatening.

“Police are satisfied that there are no suspicious circumstances and the matter has been referred to the Air Accident Investigation Branch.”
