University staff will begin their first day of strike action in a row over pensions.
Members of the University and College Union (UCU) at the University of Sussex will today strike in protest at changes to the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) pension fund.
Members will also join a national day of industrial action on Thursday.
The Sussex strike will take place during its Easter holiday.
A spokeswoman for the University of Sussex said: “This is a national dispute in relation to the funding of pensions, which are facing tremendous cost pressures.
“The changes to university pension provisions, which have been consulted on nationally, allow existing staff to retain a final salary pension scheme.”
Staff at the University of Brighton will also take part in Thursday’s strike.
