A man was knocked to the ground and kicked in the face during an attempted robbery.
The 41-year-old was attacked as he walked past the Lively Lady pub, in Bracklesham Bay, in Chichester and into a new housing development off Middleton Close.
He saw two men coming out of the pub at about 12.30am on Sunday morning before they disappeared from view.
They later walked past him and hit him on the back of the head.
As the victim fell the pair kicked him in the face before rifling through his pockets.
The man managed to scramble off the floor and run away.
The suspects are described as under 5ft9in tall, of slim build and believed to be quite young.
