I have been to watch the Pride celebrations in Brighton and Hove every year, but when I heard people will have to pay £17.50 to get into the park (The Argus, March 18), I thought – blinking heck! No way am I going to pay that sort of money.

Why should we have to pay to walk round a free park? I may want to spend a penny for a wee when I get there, much like all the other people, especially those with young children, who have marched all the way through the town before getting to the park.

People should not go to Pride this year. Then they will have to reconsider and let us in free next year. I think there will be more trouble, with youngsters breaking through barriers because they can’t get in the park for free. It’s terrible, don’t you think? I do.
