A teenage boy and a woman were hospitalised after a gang went on a shooting spree with an air rifles.

At least six people were known to have been shot with the most serious cases requiring surgery to remove the bullets.

The incident began in Queen’s Road, Hastings close to the Morrisons supermarket in Hastings when a 17-year-old girl and a 49-year-old woman were hit at around 6.30pm last night.

A 14-year-old boy, shot in the neck and a 39-year-old woman, shot in the leg, were taken to hospital and are expected to have to undergo surgery to remove the pellets.

The woman has since been discharged but the teenager has been moved to Eastbourne District General Hospital where his condition is described as not serious.

Four people were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and actual bodily harm at around 8.30pm including two men aged 19 and 20, a woman aged 18, all from Hastings and a 17-year-old boy from St Leonards-on-Sea.

They have now been been released on police bail until May 15 while police enquiries continue.
