Two men threatened a shop worker before stealing cash, cigarettes and drink in St Leonards last night.
The attack happened at the Marina Park Convenience Store at 10pm.
The robbers grabbed cash from the till before filling a carrier bag with cigarettes and stealing bottles of spirits.
They made off and were last seen running west along the seafront.
Both men were white and between 18 and 20.
They wore light coloured hooded tops which covered most of their faces and hair.
The first man was slim and about 5ft 8in, the second was about 5ft 5in.
Detective Sergeant Julie Gable said: "This was a frightening incident for the cashier who was threatened by these men.
"We are interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen them prior to the robbery, or anything else suspicious."
