BOTH M Dyson (Letters, March 16) and D Manville (Letters, March 21) are incorrect in referring to the proposed community garden on the corner of Portland Street and Church Street.

The Quakers Croft and burial ground was to the east of New Road, behind the original Quaker Meeting House in North Street.

The Pavilion Tea Garden occupies the area now. The garden referred to by D Manville is the burial ground of the Hanover Presbyterian Chapel, now the Brighthelm Centre. A map from 1803 shows the location.
