CHRIS TODD’S reminder about the relative historical costs of car fuel, and the massive rises in the cost of public transport was timely (Letters, March 19).
It is now quite clear how little this Government – like the last one, only worse – cares about inequalities in transport and other costs.
Only a fundamental change in official policies on these matters would convince me the Government is likely to help walkers, cyclists, bus and train users, and those in fuel poverty – or indeed all of us, directly or indirectly.
Yet, with the current crop of politicians, several of them millionaires, and most of them, it seems, more interested in middle-class votes, how likely is that?
