A boat with three people on board got caught in strong tides off Beachy Head.
Those on board the 22ft sports/angling boat were forced to call Eastbourne’s coastguards after water threatened to swamp the boat.
The trio had decided to fish near Beachy Head Ledge, a submerged reef, and their anchor became trapped amongst the rocks on Saturday afternoon.
As the tide turned they found they could not retrieve the anchor and the strong tides were forcing the bow of their but down into the water.
The volunteer lifeboat team eventually managed to pull out the anchor and bring the boat to shore.
