The richest man in Sussex is £200 million wealthier than this time last year.

However, he is no longer the 11th richest person in the country, falling two places 13th.

Tetra Pak magnate Hans Rausing, who lives in a country park in Wadhurst, still has an estimated wealth of about £4 billion – the same as last year.

However, The Sunday Times Rich List – published yesterday – estimated he had earned an extra £200 million in the past year.

It is estimated he annually donates about £40 million to charities and medical research.

Rising one place from last year on the Rich List is Viscount Cowdray who lives in Cowdray Park House near Midhurst.

He is believed to be worth more than £1 billion, an increase of £165 million since 2010 and £665 million since 2009.

Cowdray Park House was put on the market in September last year for £25 million as he wants to move to a smaller property but still on the same estate.

Two Sussex people who made it onto the list and also onto a sub list – Richest People in the Music Industry – are former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and Simon Cowell.

X Factor’s Cowell, whose mother Julie lives in Peacehaven, made £35 million last year, taking him to £200 million for the first time.

Sir Paul, who has a home at Peasmarsh, near Rye, made £20 million last year and is now worth £495 million.

Overall he is the fourth richest music millionaire in Britain and the 34th richest person. Cowell is the sixth richest music millionaire and the 48th richest person.
