SHIRLEY GOODING’S letter (The Argus, May 2) merits wider attention.
The noise more correctly described as a vibration or “rumble” has been reported from as far afield as Hawaii, Mexico and New Zealand since the late 1970s.
Experienced by a minority, it has been ascribed to many causes, particularly high-voltage electrical supply lines.
There are very informative websites which can be found using Google under the titles “the hum” and “low frequency tinnitus”.
I would welcome contact from others who experience the phenomenon.
