Thosands of people lined the streets to watch the city’s young people take part in Brighton’s Children’s Parade.
The carnival, which is organised by arts group Same Sky, got Brighton Festival off to a great start.
This year’s theme was “The Rights of the Child” and the young people created costumes and puppets to illustrate the right to education, the right to play, the right to nurture and the right to a future.
Among those spotted enjoying the event was actress Patsy Palmer, who lives in Brighton.
See our picture gallery from the parade.
