Specialist search teams were this morning looking for the body of missing Gary Hampson, 42, in a remote country lane.
Sussex Police Major Crime branch say they believe the car mechanic has been murdered and his body dumped in countryside close to the A23.
They began their hunt on a track of Wineham Lane, near Cowfold, this morning.
Daniel Alexander, of no fixed address, has been charfed with murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Roy Bartup, 67, of Natal Road, Brighton, has also been charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice.
Both men appeared at Brighton Magistrates this morning.
