The Argus: fringe_2011_logo_red_thumb This interactive theatre experience promises to take you through rooms both real and imagined.

The real aspect is evident as you are instructed down a corridor and into a waiting area, mirroring scenarios described later on.

The imagined aspect is led by Seth Kriebel through a performance and game combined. Your small group take to some chairs arranged around a compass drawn on the floor, and illuminated by a single spotlight.

Through dialogue from your “guide” – in this case Kriebel – the group is led through a myriad of rooms, down staircases, into cellars and through openings.

An example posed to a participant would be: “You’re in an office with clutter around you. Exits are north and east. What would you like to do?” You give a reply such as “go north” and the journey continues around a circle.

The sensation is odd in that you imagine being on your own as you explore this world, but find yourself conferring with the strangers you have been thrown together with. No one wants to back track, but it is easy to forget which way you have come – hence the use of the compass.

At the end, you’re left wondering what’s through an unopened door you only ever imagined in the first place.

It could do with lasting longer but overall it’s intriguing.
