I AGREE with B Bayliss (Letters, May 5) in that pensioners would struggle to pay their council tax on a basic state pension.
However, if OAPs are in receipt of means-tested pension credit, they pay no council tax regardless of if they rent or own their property.
If a person’s income from a private pension, savings or investments is higher than the cut-off point of pension credit (the income of the poorest pensioners), many will find it difficult to understand what there is complain about.
