Planning is one of the powerful Regulatory Committees on the Council. They are intended to be "non-party political" (as the political basis of Planning is set beforehand by the Local Plan, allegedly.) Though the Appointment of Committees are not decided until Council AGM on Thursday, it is rumoured that the new Chair may be Phelim MacCafferty and the vice-chair may be Lynda Hyde.
