The family of a baby girl who died after she stopped breathing paid tribute yesterday to their 'little princess'.

Crystal Hall-Hummel's family said she was a happy baby who was full of energy and always had a smile for everyone.

The 11-month-old, who lived in Christchurch Road, Worthing, with her mother, was rushed to Worthing Hospital after being treated by paramedics at an address in Nursery Lane, Worthing, on Friday morning.

She was collected by a specialist team from St Thomas's Hospital in London, but sadly died just after 3pm on Saturday.

In a statement, her family said Crystal loved splashing around in the bath, being cheeky, and she loved attention and cuddles.

They added: “What has happened has shocked all of us and words can't describe how we all feel.

“Crystal was a massive part of everyone's life. Our love for her is indescribable and we miss her so much.

“She will live in our hearts forever and will always be our little princess looking down on us from heaven.”

A 26-year-old man from Worthing, who was known to Crystal but is not believed to be her father, was arrested on suspicion of Crystal's murder at St Thomas's just after 5pm on Saturday and brought back to Sussex for questioning. He has been bailed until June 20.
