Police continue to hunt for a hoodie who threw bleach into the face of a man as he walked through a park.
The victim, 61, was walking through St James’ Park in Burgess Hill at 9pm on Monday when his attacker struck.
The victim, who lives in West Street, Burgess Hill, managed to find his way to a nearby house, where an ambulance was called.
Yesterday he was released from the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but was warned he could face permanent damage to his vision.
The man suffered burns to the upper and lower lids of his left eye and cell damage.
Detective Constable Mike George said: “This was a random unprovoked attack. We are treating it as a grievous bodily harm.”
The victim can only describe the suspect as white, 5ft 8in, of medium build, wearing dark trousers and a dark hooded top with the hood up.
