ON SATURDAY, May 21, we spent the afternoon hosting the Open House “Our Living World” in Coventry Street in Brighton.
This is a remarkable project with more than 360 pictures painted by all the pupils of Stanford Junior School, representing the hopes, insights and the talent of the generations to come.
I watched as children brought their parents to show, with genuine pride, their work and that of their friends.
Imagine the downstairs of a terraced house transformed into a children’s paradise; a riot of colour and celebration. Not to mention the cakes and pictures that are being sold in aid of the children’s chosen charity, Water Aid.
I want to pay credit and share our thanks to Sally Hunt and her daughter, Katherine, a Stanford pupil, for creating this wonderful moment for our community. The support of sponsors, the volunteer effort of our friends and neighbours, the school, teachers and the pupils themselves make this an open house to treasure.
It is open for the last time tomorrow and Sunday.
