Two bays for Disabled Badge Holders in New Road may be removed if council proposals get approved. The only reason for the proposal is to allow more tables and chairs to be placed on the street.
The leaseholder of 20 New Road, a private café, requested the removal of the bay outside 20 New Road in order to provide a bigger outside seating area for paying customers on the road. This will necessitate removing the bay outside number 21 also, for safety reasons.
There is seating already outside 20 New Road for tables and chairs on the pavement only.
The parking area is 27 metres long which currently allows for four cars. The proposals are to cut that length to 15 metres only, remove 12 metres of parking and squeeze the remaining two bays into three bays.
All objections and other representations relating to the proposed Order must be made no later than 11th June 2011. All objections must specify the grounds on which they are made in writing to the Council or by e-mail to Jim.Mayor@brighton-hove.gov.uk
