11am in Queens Park, Hanover and the Veteran Dog catergory opens the show whilst the queue of people signing up to enter grew longer.

Annabel Giles and Marc Abraham, who are currently promoting Pup Aid and raising awareness of puppy farming, judge the dogs by asking questions and checking their general health and happiness.

Marc Abraham commented on the contestants saying, "There are so many well-controlled dogs and so many children controlling their dogs. Brighton is clearly very dog-friendly and should be proud."

The 'Dog Most Like Their Owner' catergory and 'Fancy Dress' proved to be the most popular, but with Dave the Shark/Dachshund it was hardly surprising.

Dunstan Middleton, clear winner and dog-lookalike, sat with Woody and said his wife told him to enter. She said "He gets teased for 364 days of the year, he may as well enter and have fun."

The stalls around the ring varied from various forms of bling collars and jackets to stuffed canine toys.

Hayley and Steph from Snaffles, the gourmet dog treat company, said, "It's a great place to launch in Brighton. It's great for then local community and we've had a lot of support from local businesses."

The weather held out until the penultimate class, with 'Prettiest Bitch' being quick but very popular and Bella the 'Best Rescue Dog' taking 'Best in Show'.

Rhian White, of Brighton Dog Photography, said it was a brilliant show and people really loved it.

The day left a lot of smiling faces, most of them covered in dog tongue, and plenty of new friends.
