This year's Picnic in the Park on Sunday boasts hair-braiders, face painters, whack the clown, a coconut shy, a medieval tent and a fire engine and if you forget your picnic they have a range of local foods for sale.

After the sunny success of last year the organisers, Friends of Queens Park, are hoping the weather holds again for another family-filled celebration.

Johnny Webb, event organiser, said, "I think there's something for everyone. The teenagers can dare each other to try out the trapeze and Pet Sounds will appeal to all music lovers."

There is not entry fee and, for the first time, BandBazi will run their aerial circus and theatre classes for all ages from 7 upwards.

The money raised will be going to repair the duck ponds and to help with on-going improvements.

Johnny said, "Kids love it. My own son is now a green belt in Ninjitsu after the Samurai martial arts workshop last year."

So if you want to take a picnic out, watch some puppets, jump on a bouncy castle or take a martial arts workshop join the other families at Queens Park this Sunday.

Cripsin Redman, who ran Bark in the Park, says it was the biggest event they ran, and this year's highlight will be the Brighton Beach Boys.
